I hope you find it useful! If you’d like to see a term added to the list – or you think one of my definitions needs correcting – please let me know in the comments below. I came across most of these terms myself when I first bought a Mac, so I thought it’d be useful to gather them together into this glossary. In any case, please submit a bug report via the Provide Feedback option in the MainStage menu. Are you new to the Mac, or thinking of diving into the world of Macs? The following is a list of technical Mac terms that you may find handy. How can a plugin’s pitch output be altered without some form of acknowledgment of this within the plugin? That’s crazy. the plugin says that 440Hz is still the reference pitch and there’s no evidence of a transposition being executed. One part of this issue is that detuning/pitch changes are occurring but there’s no notification in the plugin that there’s been a change i.e. So many people have reported this issue over the years that I’m surprised there isn’t a feature that can effectively lock the global tuning/pitch of plugins (whilst still allowing general pitch bend). And regardless of whether it’s a controller or MIDI glitch, or a problem with MainStage, this needs to be fixed ASAP. Yes, I understand that random detuning/pitch changes shouldn’t happen but they obviously are….you and I aren’t the only users experiencing this. I can’t understand why it’s not possible to have an option to “lock” the tuning/pitch of plugins as a MainStage feature. I sent one just the other day and if the engineers receive another one shortly afterward, they might be more inclined to investigate more thoroughly. Have you sent a bug report to Apple via the Provide Feedback option in MainStage? If not, please do that ASAP. Hmmm, it’s very interesting that the same detuning occurs with different controllers.
1/4 step etc?Ģ) Do you ever experience the detuning when using layered patches with multiple synth plugins across multiple channel strips? I sometimes encounter issues whereby one plugin in a layered patch will detune but the other plugins won’t, and the result is truly horrible!ģ) How do you resolve the situation? Does unloading/reloading the plugins fix it? Can you reload the voice within the plugin or is it the case that once the plugin has detuned, reloading the voice makes no difference to the detuned output? Does disconnecting/reconnecting your MIDI controller resolve things?Ĥ) Are there any particular plugins that tend to be more affected by the detuning? In my case, plugins of physically modeled instruments tend to be the ones that frequently detune. However, I’m really interested to hear more about what exactly you are experiencing.ġ) Are the detunes even half/full steps or are they partial steps e.g. I’ve experienced this but only when using wireless MIDI systems a cabled connection seems to be ok.
